We celebrated the 2019 summer season with our annual banquet on Aug. 16. To make the summer possible, we thank Will Jacobs, his wonderful staff of 20 instructors, Chip Baker, all the Foundation directors and parent volunteers. We also thank the amazing helpers, who would volunteer their mornings every week. Some of the morning class helpers included Kimball Khetani, Sean Morrison, Lucas Thress, Peter Bauman, Brian Goldsmith, Jack Castonia, Alex Goldsmith, Lucy Gauthier, Luke Donellan and Sage Wickline.

For the awards, we started with the Seamanship Cups. For the morning class, it was presented to Hadden Brinegar; for intermediate Turnabouts, it was presented to Eleanor Marshall; for intermediate Optis, it was presented to Daphne Walsh; and for advanced 420s, it was presented to Ava Gauthier.

The next award presented was the Sportsmanship Cups. For the morning class, it was presented to Ella Watts; for intermediate Turnabouts, it was presented to Sophia Moen; for intermediate Optis, it was presented to Sabrina Fairfield; and for advanced 420s, it was presented to Sawyer Linehan.

Next, the most improved sailors were recognized. For the morning class, it was presented to Brooks Baker; for the intermediate Turnabouts, the award, also known as the Duncan Cup, it was presented to Maggie Doyle; for intermediate Optis, it was presented to Finn Urich; and for advanced 420s, it was presented to Carolyn Parker.

The Commodore’s Cup was presented to Tia Freund, who was the junior commodore for the summer. The Glidden Cup, which recognizes a sailor for both seamanship and sportsmanship, was presented to Nathan Chatterton. The John Helming Cup was presented to Alex Goldsmith. The Paul J. Coppola instructor award was presented to Jennifer Killian. The Norma Smith award was presented to Sean Morrison.

The awards presentation ended with the racing results and season cups. For the Turnabout July series, Alex Goldsmith placed first, Hannah McWhan placed second, and Eleanor Marshall placed third. For the Turnabout August Series, Nathan Cusack placed first, Alex Goldsmith placed second, and Eleanor Marshall placed third. The Turnabout Season Cup was presented to Alex Goldsmith. For the Opti July series, Ryan Peterson placed first, Sawyer Bates placed second, and Blake Donnellan placed third. For the Opti August series, Ryan Peterson placed first, Blake Donnellan placed second, and Luke Donnellan placed third. The Opti Season Cup was presented to Ryan Peterson. For the 420 July Series, Bryce Jacobs and Abby Thress placed first, Charlie Apolinsky and Abbie Peterson placed second, and Lucas Thress and Peter Bauman placed third. For the 420 August series, Bryce Jacobs and Jenna Peterson placed first, Charlie Apolinsky and Brian Goldsmith placed second, and Nate Rideout and Carolyn Parker placed third. The 420 Season Skipper was presented to Bryce Jacobs and the 420 Season Crew was Abby Thress.
