Good sport teachers get their ‘just desserts’
The top student fundraisers for the “Jump Rope for Heart” program at Boothbay Region Elementary School got a special reward at an end of the school year assembly on June 17. And three teachers made sure to bring a change of clothes.
Three students, Molly Shook, Suzie Edwards and Jaelyn Crocker, raised the most money and got to slap whipped cream pies into the faces of music teacher Mark Phillips, Assistant Principal Brandon Ward and BRES Principal Mark Tess.
Molly, in third place, got to “pie” Phillips. Suzie was in second place and got to pies Ward twice, and top finisher Jaelyn Crocker got to toss three full pies into the face of Tess.
The teachers were all good sports about it. When Ward got his faceful of whipped cream, Phillips could be seen tossing extra his way. The students cheered for the winning students and their teachers, who excused themselves afterward to clean up.
