Fire damages Boothbay home
An early morning electrical fire at a mobile home at 871 Back River Road in Boothbay was quickly extinguished by firefighters Wednesday, May 6.
According to Boothbay Fire Chief Dick Spofford, home occupant Clyde Burnham had heard crackling noises coming from an electrical box located in the bedroom and smoke was filling the home when he called the fire in around 1 a.m.
Firefighters managed to contain the fire to the bedroom but the fire burned a hole in the home all the way to the outside, said Spofford.
No one was injured in the fire and the home occupants were housed overnight at the Boothbay Fire Station and other locations.
Besides Boothbay firefighters, members of the Boothbay Harbor and Southport fire departments provided mutual aid and the Edgecomb Fire Department covered the Boothbay station until the scene was cleared. The Lincoln County Sheriff's Office and Boothbay Region Ambulance Service also responded.
