Walkathon raises over $3,000

Boothbay Region Elementary School students in pre-K through eighth grade raised over $3,000 for the Geoff Marston family this past week during a walkathon. The 300-plus students participating walked a total of 362 miles, according to organizer Christina Barter. Various classes walked during physical education classes between March 3 and March 10.
The Marston family, which includes Lorri and Geoff’s sons who attend BRES, lost their home to a fire on February 5.
“(The walkathon) was a huge success,” said Barter, who wished to thank everyone who donated to the cause.
