After weeks of local, regional and national voting on USA Today’s website, Boothbay Harbor’s boys basketball coach I.J. Pinkham ended up in fourth place with 6.075 percent of the votes in the best coach contest.

Pinkham advanced to the national round after winning the best coach in Maine and the best coach in the Northeast region. Parents, athletes, students, colleagues and friends voted over and over, hoping to get national recognition for Pinkham’s coaching and his work as a math teacher at Boothbay Region High School.

Pinkham had 262,917 votes cast for him.
