Boothbay Railway Village invited to Maine Nonprofit Day at State House
The Boothbay Railway Village is pleased to have been selected to participate in the annual Maine Nonprofit Day at the State House on Thursday, Feb. 13. The event is sponsored and hosted by the Maine Association of Nonprofits (MANP). The exhibiting nonprofit organizations are Family Hope (Scarborough), Friends of Maine’s Seabird Islands (Rockland), Maine Affiliate of Susan G. Komen (Brewer), Maine Association of Conservation Commissions (Woodstock), Maine Quality Counts (Manchester), Spectrum Generations (Augusta), Susan L. Curtis Charitable Foundation, dba Camp Susan Curtis (Portland), Sweetser (Saco), Time & Tide Resource Conservation & Development Area (Augusta), Tri-County Mental Health Service (Lewiston), and Washington Hancock Community Agency (Machias/Ellsworth).
The goal of Nonprofit Day, coordinated by the Maine Association of Nonprofits, is to raise awareness for the varied and deep contributions nonprofits make to Maine’s economy and quality of life. Maine’s nonprofit community is one of the most robust and vibrant in the country, playing a significant role in the state’s reputation as a great place to live and raise a family.
From supporting early care and education of our children and developing future community leaders to supporting our most vulnerable residents and protecting our natural and cultural resources, nonprofits are crucial to our present and our future. Additionally, Maine nonprofits account for 17 percent of the State’s Gross Product, and we employ 1 in 7 Maine workers, making the nonprofit sector the largest employing industry in the state. The Boothbay Railway Village is proud to be a member of this vibrant and critical sector of the Maine economy.
The 11th Annual Nonprofit Day takes place on February 13, 8:30 a.m to 1 p.m., in the Hall of Flags at the State House in Augusta.
