New salon opens in Boothbay Harbor
Kristy Anderson has opened up a new hair studio called “unTangled” directly across from the Boothbay Harbor Post Office.
Anderson has been doing hair for seven years, starting the year after she graduated high school. She trained at Mr. Bernard's School of Hair Fashion in Lewiston, and has been working the past three years at Salon Capella in Boothbay Harbor. Before that she worked at The Looking Glass in Brunswick.
“It's very exciting,” Anderson said. “It was the right time for me to branch out on my own.”
Anderson has nearly finished her studio, and has collaborated with several locals in the design work, including Lori Pecor, Thomas Block and Jeff Dowdy.
“Lori Pecor at Marketing Cents 4u did a fantastic job designing my logo and brand,” Anderson said, “and I'm thrilled to have some of Thomas Block's painting for sale, he does beautiful artwork.”
Dowdy runs Sawyer's Way in Edgecomb, and is finishing custom mirrors and coat racks for Anderson's studio.
“They will be feature pieces,” Anderson said. “Functional and beautiful at the same time.”
unTangled will feature Soma haircare and Chromastic color products exclusively.
“These products are pH balanced and are really good for hair,” Anderson said. “That's important to me.”
unTangled is open Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8:30 a.m. To 4:30 p.m., and Wednesdays and Fridays from 8:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. She does hair for both adults and youth.
She is currently accepting appointments and can be reached at 207-798-9807, or kristy.anderson85@gmail.com. She is working on getting her website online, which will be www.untangledinboothbay.com.
