Lady Seahawks crushed by Phoenix

Emily Keene scored 15 points to lead the Spruce Mountain Phoenix to an easy win, 59-31, over the Boothbay Region Lady Seahawks basketball team Wednesday night at Porter Memorial Gymnasium.
BRHS Coach Tanner Grover knew the Phoenix were going to be tough, calling them the “best team in the conference” earlier in the week. They proved him right as Spruce Mountain's 3-2 half-court trapping defense forced many Boothbay turnovers, which led to several easy baskets.
Spruce Mountain (5-0), which is leading Western Maine Class B in the Heal point standings, jumped out to a 10-0 lead and led 15-6 after the first quarter, which ended with a three-pointer by Keene at the buzzer.
The Phoenix led at the half, 33-11, and 54-22 at the end of three quarters. Vanese Barnes added 10 points for Spruce Mountain as nine players scored for the visitors.
Morgan Crocker led Boothbay (2-3) with 17 points.
