Boothbay Region Garden Club to host evening meeting
The Boothbay Region Garden Club will be hosting the first of two evening meetings this coming Wednesday, April 9 at St. Columba’s Episcopal Church, 32 Emery Lane, Boothbay Harbor. If you are interested in learning more about your local Garden Club but can't attend daytime meetings, this is your chance to come and find out what we are all about! Refreshments will be served starting at 5:30 p.m. and the membership meeting will begin at 6 which will include a brief overview of the many ways to get involved in the club.
At 6:30, master gardener and long-time member Linda Redman will give her fascinating “Twigs and Things” presentation. Linda will begin her talk with a discussion of tools and materials before she continues with a variety of items that can be used and made from materials from your own yard. She will share many garden items that can be made from twigs and branches to include fences, trellises, gates and arbors and will finish with a demonstration of the basic techniques in construction.
The mission of our Club is to promote interest in the art and practice of gardening, horticultural education and the beautification of the Boothbay Region. We serve the Boothbay peninsula and the surrounding area through gardening projects, programs, education and scholarships—fostering deep friendships through working together to make a difference in our environment. We also have a lot of fun!
Perhaps you will want to join our Garden Therapy Committee which plans much appreciated activities for the residents of St. Andrews Village; or our Program Committee which determines the speakers who will present at our monthly meetings. We are always looking for volunteers to help plan and execute our “The Sea Around Us” Home and Garden Tour and our annual Holiday Festival and Winter Market.
