A look at what’s ahead
The Boothbay selectmen meet today, November 27, at 7 p.m.
The majority of the Boothbay selectmen want to see the TIF reintroduced at next year's town meeting. Additionally the town is distributing a poll to measure public opinion. In response to this, residents have taken out their frustrations on the town staff.
In a public memo provided to the selectmen, Town Manager Jim Chaousis wrote, “Some people have been very negative and nasty about the selectmen considering reintroducing the questions .... The poll may be able to tell the BOS why but I do not support reintroducing the question out of fear for the destructive nature it will have on the community and the destructive nature it will have on the office and other priorities.”
Other topics will include a funding request regarding the Windjammer Days fireworks, which is now overseen by the town of Boothbay Harbor. The budget for fiscal year 2014, and the Spirit of America nomination will also be discussed.
