New York publisher does early release for 'Books in Boothbay'
Books in Boothbay: Maine’s Summer Book Fair, the largest one-day book fair in northern New England, has become so popular that New York-based publisher Macmillan will be releasing, before the originally scheduled publishing date, “Massacre Pond,” a new novel by Maine author Paul Doiron, to make copies available for Doiron to sign at the fair on July 13.
It is the latest and fourth book in Doiron’s Mike Bowditch Mystery Series. He is also the editor of Down East Magazine.
Doiron will be one of 40 Maine authors who will be meeting the public, discussing his work and signing books which will be for sale at The Old Town Hall on the campus of the Boothbay Railway Village.

Books in Boothbay: Maine’s Summer Book Fair is now in its ninth year. Admission and parking is free at the Railway Village. Train rides are available on the authentic, coal-fired, steam-driven railroad for only $5. The public can meet the authors and purchase their latest work from 12:30 p.m. until 3:30 p.m on Saturday, July 13 and also enjoy a special appearance by Farmer Minor and his pig Daisy at 2.
The Author’s Reception, open to the public, will follow in the same locale at 3:45 p.m.
The Book Fair is sponsored by the Boothbay Harbor Memorial Library, the Boothbay Railway Village, and The Villa in Boothbay Harbor, with support from Sherman’s Books & Stationery.
