Seniors set to fly
With the coming of summer and the arrival of tourists, the Boothbay region will be saying good-bye.
Boothbay Region High School will see 54 seniors graduate Friday, June 7.
Graduation ceremonies will begin at 2 p.m. in the Porter Memorial Gymnasium at BRHS.
Following the graduation at 8 p.m. there will be an alumni ball and at 10 p.m. the Project Graduation trip will begin.
But, before the seniors receive their diplomas there will be other events lined up for the departing students. The festivities begin Thursday, June 6 with the 8 a.m. teacher's awards.
The graduation ceremonies will kick off when salutatorian Arden McSwain gives the welcome address and she will be followed by Evan Stevens' honor essay.
Valedictorian Hannah Elder will then make the farewell address, which will be followed by the Boothbay Region High School Chorus' rendition of “Robert Frost Melody.”
Superintendent Eileen King will make an address, then the diplomas will be handed out by King and BRHS Principal Daniel Welch.
Following the awarding of the diplomas, there will be the commencement capping and a recessional. The Seahawk Symphonic Band will perform during the ceremony.
For the class of 2013, class president was Nate Colcord, class vice president was Evan Stevens, secretary was Caroline Knapp, Hannah Elder was treasurer, Sarah Caron and Louise Monroe comprised the student council and Arden McSwain was student body president.
