Mr. and Mrs. David Kern, of Ocean Point and Merrimac, Massachusetts, announce the engagement of their daughter Caroline Anne, to Marcus Privitt, son of Karen and Thomas Smithwick of Chesapeake, Virginia.

Ms. Kern, a graduate of Bates College, and Yale University, is a nurse practitioner/midwife in Rochester, New York. Mr. Privitt, a graduate of Virginia Tech and Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary, is employed by Alight: Human Capital and Benefit Solutions of Atlanta, Georgia. He is also an assistant pastor at the Highrock Church in Haverhill, Massachusetts.

A June 2020 wedding is planned.
