“Thank you!” shouted the directors and volunteers of the Boothbay Region Food Pantry. “We are immensely grateful to the YMCA and the Dead River Company for organizing the ‘Fill the Bus’ event and to the many members of the community who contributed cans and boxes of nutritious food for our clients.”
The bus, which was parked in Hannaford’s lot on a recent day in May, gradually filled up with 200 pounds of food, a new record for the event. In addition, $70 in cash was contributed by passers-by.
“We live in a very generous community,” remarked Fleet Davies, who, together with Tom Wilson, co-directs the pantry. “We are no longer surprised by such generosity, but we are always very appreciative.”
