The Boothbay Region Historical Society has a summer raffle sure to please anyone from 5 to 95. How would you like to invite seven friends and/or family to join you for a tour of the Boothbay region atop a fire truck?

One lucky winner will enjoy an unforgettable two-hour ride next summer on Charlie Bamberg's shiny red 1957 pumper engine fire truck. The prize will be available for scheduling on a date convenient for both the winner and Charlie between the end of May and Sept. 10, 2020.

This handsome vehicle was built during the 50th year International produced trucks. She was then outfitted as a pumper engine and first saw service in Paramus, New Jersey. Known as Engine No. 4, she worked in Maine at the Smithfield Volunteer Fire Department for 22 years. After being retired, “Old No. 4” was purchased by a private party in Skowhegan and ultimately donated to Owls Head Transportation Museum to be part of their annual August auction. It was at this auction that Charlie won his “1957 red convertible,” which is now housed in East Boothbay and meticulously cared for.

The society thanks Charlie Bamberg for this donation made in recognition of Boothbay Region Historical Society’s mission to promote interest in the history of the Boothbay region and to preserve that history for future generations to enjoy.

The drawing will take place during Fall Foliage Festival on Oct. 12.
