A vintage holiday at Boothbay Region Historical Society
Boothbay Region Historical Society celebrated the holiday season Dec. 7, welcoming guests to the Society's annual open house. The Oak Street museum was made festive with vintage decorations and a spread of holiday foods and hot drinks.
“It's the time of year where everybody comes together, and you can see that right here. I'm enjoying it,” Executive Director Aimee Keithan said. She later added, “there are so many people here. I think it's fantastic.”
Keithan said it has been a good year for the Society with several highlights including “A Look Back: 150 Years of Life in the Boothbay Region,” a project that explores daily life on the peninsula. She especially enjoys the new Monday Club collection, the product of working with records that had never been studied before.
Keithan said the Society is continuing work on digitizing collections, including a project with the Boothbay Register, and working more with original documents; one is a recently uncovered 1692 bible the Society is working to conserve.
