Two BRHS juniors prepare for Boys State
Jude Alamo and Robert Campbell have been chosen to represent Boothbay Region High School at the American Legion's Boys State at Thomas College in Waterville June 16-20.
The two BRHS junior boys were nominated by the school faculty to attend Boys State based on their leadership, good citizenship, honesty, scholarship, cooperativeness, friendship and service to their school. Alamo is the son of Dr. and Mrs. Aquilino Alamo of Boothbay. Campbell is the son of Mr. and Mrs. William Campbell of Boothbay Harbor.
Sponsoring the boys are the First Federal Savings Bank, the Rotary Club of Boothbay Harbor and the Boothbay Region Lions Club
Boys State is for Maine high school juniors where they learn more about how town and state governments are conducted, including campaigning for offices and putting together policies. Instructors are real-life town managers, Maine House and Senate members, teachers and guidance counselors.
BRHS has announced that no girls were interested in attending this year's American Legion Auxiliary's annual Girls State program at Husson University in Bangor.
