Three Wildcat teams in the finals












Three of the four Boothbay Region Elementary School basketball teams have advanced to the large school Busline League finals on Saturday, Jan. 25 at Camden with impressive wins at home Thursday, Jan. 23. The Wildcat eighth grade boys prevailed over Bristol, 56-43; the eighth grade girls defeated Camden, 51-38, and the seventh grade girls rolled over Medomak, 47-22. The BRES seventh grade boys lost on Tuesday to Oceanside-Blue, 61-54.
In the finals at Camden, Boothbay's seventh grade girls will face Oceanside-Blue at 10 a.m.; the eighth grade girls will take on Oceanside-Blue at noon; and the eighth grade boys will battle with Troy Howard at 4 p.m.
Leading scorers for the BRES 8th grade boys were: Kyle Ames, 22 points; Graham Bryer, 10 points; and Eli Gudroe, eight points. Bristol was led by Nathan Masters with 22 points, followed by Taylor Holmes with 15 points.
The BRES 8th grade girls were led by Page Brown with 18 points, followed by Sydney Mercier with 12 and Sydney Meader with 11. Camden was led by Malea Russell with 17 points and Audrey Clement with 10.
The Wildcat 7th grade girls were paced by Maggie Larson with 12 points, followed by Faith Blethen with nine and Ashley Abbott with eight. Medomak was led by Lydia Simmons with six points, while Talia Willis and Hattie Watmough each scored four.
