Jane Carpenter, writer and columnist for the Boothbay Register and Wiscasset Newspaper, will give a free talk, “Take Control-All About Scams,” at the Boothbay Region Community Center, Meadow Mall, Boothbay Harbor on Monday, Sept. 16 at 2 p.m.

Carpenter has worked in the Maine Attorney General’s Office, was a member of the FBI’s InfraGard organization and an author of publications for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. Her newspaper columns have dealt with identity theft and fraud.
