Sunflower Celebration's art happening a first for Midcoast Maine

A top secret, interactive art happening is about to sprout at the Aug. 12 Sunflower Celebration at the Opera House at Boothbay Harbor benefiting Friends of Thai Daughters (FTD). Creative minds, Kim and Philippe Villard, have dreamed up a first for a Midcoast Maine: a large-scale art happening. The art happening will take place at the beginning of the Sunflower Celebration at 5:15 p.m.
Tickets for the Sunflower Celebration include the art happening, excellent Thai food prepared by Chef Liz Evans and the FTD family, two drink tickets, a signature Thai cocktail, live music by Inanna, and the live auction. The live auction is comprised of many donations from local businesses plus a trip to Thailand including a stay at the stunning Anantara Resort in the Golden Triangle, a trip to LA to see the Ellen Degeneres Show, and Red Sox tickets. A free round-trip shuttle, courtesy of Country Coach Charters, is available for guests leaving from the Damariscotta area.
A small number of tickets are still available for the VIP Reception, preceding the Sunflower Celebration at Ae Home across the street from the Opera House. Guests will enjoy Norumbega oysters on the half shell, foodie-approved Thai appetizers, complimentary signature cocktails, and high end wine and beer courtesy of Central Distributors and FTD friends Carol and Pete Matwiczyk. VIP guests will promenade in celebratory style with a special escort, Chang the Elephant, to the Opera House.
FTD invites the community to celebrate its 10th anniversary at the Sunflower Celebration. Tickets for the Sunflower Celebration and the VIP Reception can be purchased online at www.friendsofthaidaughters.org. To view the auction slide show, visit FTD’s website.
