Sunflower Celebration set for Friends of Thai Daughters’ 10th anniversary
Where can you dance to Inanna, Sisters in Rhythm, nosh on excellent Thai cuisine, sip on a Thai-inspired signature cocktail, participate in a live art installation, have the chance to bid on a trip to Thailand, and support a good cause?
Friends of Thai Daughters (FTD), a nonprofit founded by Boothbay residents Patty Zinkowski and Jane McBride, is hosting a Sunflower Celebration in honor of the organization’s 10th anniversary on Wednesday, Aug. 12 at the Opera House at Boothbay Harbor.
Alison Evans and Chris Fritz, owners of the beautiful Ae Home at 93 Townsend Avenue in Boothbay Harbor, are hosting a VIP reception just before the celebration. After enjoying hand-selected wines, micro brews, oysters and Thai-inspired appetizers, reception guests will promenade to the opera house. The VIP reception is expected to sell out.
Sunflower signs throughout the region showcase businesses supporting FTD and the Sunflower Celebration. Ae Home, East Boothbay General Store, Topside Inn, Mexicali Blues, Welch House Inn, Balmy Days, Hahns End, Red Cup Coffeehouse, Best Thai, Norembega Oysters, NS Design, Seastone Therapeutics and more are donating items and services to the live auction.
All event proceeds benefit FTD, which provides a safe house, education, and emotional support to young girls at risk of being trafficked in Northern Thailand.
