Stover serving on long-term care commission

Rep. Holly Stover, D-Boothbay, has been appointed to serve on the Commission to Study Long-term Care Workforce Issues. With Maine’s rapidly growing older population, the commission was created as part of the state budget and is tasked with determining current demand for direct care workers, projecting future needs and developing strategies for meeting those needs.
“Here in Maine, we value taking care of our seniors. Our state is currently facing a serious workforce shortage for long-term care services, making it difficult for our aging population to receive the care they deserve,” Stover said. “It’s time we take a serious look at this shortage and work to find solutions to this problem.”
The commission is also tasked with developing strategies to improve the quality of long-term care jobs. The commission held its first meeting on Sept. 11, 2019.
Stover is serving her first term in the Maine House and represents Boothbay, Boothbay Harbor, Edgecomb, part of South Bristol, Southport and Westport Island. She sits on the Health and Human Services Committee.
