A Fourth of July parade will be held this year at Newagen Colony on Southport Island.

Stephanie Guite and Medea Harris are organizing the parade and everyone is invited to participate; walkers, doll strollers, wagons, bike riders, baby carriages and even unicyclists can join in.

Feel free to decorate your bikes, strollers and carriages in red, white and blue and meet at the Newagen Town Landing at 9 a.m. on July 4.

The paraders will leave the town landing and circle around the Newagen Seaside Inn, and then return to the Southport Memorial Library. Dogs are welcome but must be on a leash at all times. Parking is available at the library or along Route 27 on the right shoulder.
