Small fire breaks out in Boothbay
Mon, 11/25/2013 - 4:45pm
A brush fire broke out behind the Boothbay Baptist Church and Kenniston Hill Cemetery at approximately 3:45 p.m. on November 25.
Boothbay Fire Chief Dick Spofford said he was passing by the church and noticed smoke from the trees. He made the report as the fire quickly spread along the stonewall between the church and graveyard.
Spofford said someone from the Boothbay Baptist Church had emptied wood pellet ashes that quickly ignited. Fire trucks arrived and Boothbay firemen sprayed water onto the smoldering ashes. The fire was putout as quickly as it had ignited, Spofford said.
No one was harmed by the fire.
