On January 31 the Boothbay Region High School Seahawks and Lincoln Academy Eagles had their final home meet against the Erskine Academy Eagles.
The Seahawks had an excellent final home match, taking seven first places, seven second places and four thirds.
First place wins went to Karl Alamo in the boys 100 yard backstroke and boys 200 yard IM, Brad Tibbetts in the boys 100 yard breaststoke and boys 100 yard butterfly, and Nicole Labrecque in the girls 200 yard IM and the girls 100 yard butterfly. The boy's relay team of Karl Alamo, Vincente Haro, Brad Tibbetts and Austin Crocker also took first in the boys 200 yard medley relay.
Second place wins were by Brenna Alley in the girls 50 yard freestyle, Austin Crocker in the boys 50 yard freestyle and boys 100 yard freestyle, and Molly Thibault in the girls 100 yard backstroke. Group wins also went to the girls relay team of Brenna Alley, Samantha Carter, Jaime Wheeler and Nicole Labrecque in both the girls 200 yard relay and the girls 200 yard freestyle relay, and the boys relay team in the boys 200 yard freestyle relay.
Third place was taken by the girls relay team of Jaime Wheeler, Molly Thibault, Chealsea Graves and Samantha Carter in the girls 400 yard freestyle relay. Individual wins were by Brenna Alley in the girls 100 yard breastroke, Jaime Wheeler in the girls 50 yard freestyle and Molly Thibault in the girls 100 yard freestyle.
This last home meet was also “Senior Night,” where Coach Don Strout introduced and praised the senior swimmers who would be leaving at the end of the year. There were several senior swimmers for Lincoln Academy, and just one from Boothbay Region High School, Austin Crocker.
Crocker has qualified in several events for the state meet in February along with Alley, Tibbetts, Alamo and LaBrecque. State Championships are on February 17 (girls) and 18 (boys) at Bowdoin.
