‘Round Town Picks: Week of January 5
Snow, rain, ice and more snow. From meteorologist reports to first-hand accounts, weather has been the top story lately.
Here are some alternatives to staying in, should the roads be good enough to traverse:
On Sunday, Jan. 5, Hidden Valley Nature Center in Jefferson will have a 5 p.m. presentation, “Maine’s Nordic Skiing Heritage: 1870-Present.” Hot Tuna will also perform at the Opera House on Sunday at 7:30 p.m.
On Monday, Jan. 6, “visit” Zambia, Africa with Joanne Bollinger during a Lincoln Home event in Newcastle.
On Tuesday, Jan. 7, try square dancing at the Dike-Newall School in Bath; or stop by the Loaves & Fishes to go fundraiser at Boothbay’s Congregational Church. Call 207-633-4757 for more information.
On Wednesday, Jan. 8, stop by the Boothbay Harbor Memorial Library to learn how to borrow e-books and audiobooks on your e-reader or iPad. 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. sessions. Call the library to register: 207-633-3112.
On Thursday, Jan. 9, head to the noon Senior Center lunch at the Wiscasset Community Center. For more information, call 207-882-8230.
On Friday, Jan. 10, there’s a Literary Lunch with Martha White (E.B. White’s granddaughter) at the Boothbay library; there’s also a cool concert at the Opera House at Boothbay Harbor featuring fiddler April Verch.
Stay warm out there!
