On Sunday, Aug. 30, All Saints by-the-Sea welcomes back the Rev. John Ineson. Holy Communion will be celebrated at the 8 and 10 a.m. services. A social hour with refreshments follows the 10 a.m. service. At 9 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 1, Ineson will lead a discussion group on the church porch.

Ineson is well known to many of us in the Boothbay area as a retired local minister and as a singer-songwriter who often chooses to illustrate a point in his sermon with a song. A native of Rochester, New York, Ineson earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of New Hampshire and a bachelor’s degree in theology from Berkeley Divinity School in New Haven, Connecticut.

From 1981-1984 he was chaplain of Colby College and from 1984 to 1995 he was rector of St. Andrews Episcopal Church in Newcastle. For the next 11 years he was vicar of St. Barnabas, Augusta, where his wife Hannah served as organist. During the winter he is a seasonal assistant at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church on Marco Island, Florida.

Ineson is the author of “The Way of Life, Macrobiotics and the Spirit of Christianity.” He has lectured and led workshops in health, wholeness and healing for many years and has an active ministry in the laying on of hands for healer.

All Saints by-the-Sea is on Southport Island on All Saints Road about two miles on your left as you drive south on Route 238 (look for the Episcopal Church sign by the side of the road). Parking is available along Route 238, or if necessary, in the limited number of handicapped parking spaces off All Saints Road. A golf cart will ferry persons from the handicapped lot to the church steps. You may also come to church by private boat or by the tour boat Novelty, which leaves Boothbay Harbor from Pier 8 at 9 a.m. Novelty picks up passengers from the church dock at 11:40 a.m. for the return trip.
