Rebuilding Together does it again

The rain didn’t dampen the spirits or energy of local Rebuilding Together volunteers on May 11.
More than 75 residents, including business people, church members, elected officials and high school students, gathered at Our Lady Queen of Peace Church at 7:30 a.m. to get their day’s assignment.
Red Cup Coffeehouse and Mama D’s provided an early morning pick-me-up for the crew and the Reverend Sarah Foulger offered a prayer to set the day’s intention. The volunteers then fanned out in teams across the community to make improvements on local homes and community centers.
“It was a great community feel good day for all,” Sally Barter wrote in an email. Barter said volunteers were able to finish most projects despite the inclement weather.
Rebuilding Together is a national organization that serves over 1,800 communities. Every year on Rebuilding Together Day, over 275,000 volunteers work together nationwide to keep low income residents safe, warm and in their own homes.
Rebuilding Together-Lincoln County was formed in 2002 and has made repairs and improvements to over 140 homes.
