Peter Felsenthal’s ‘New Growth’ comes to Boothbay Harbor
The Boothbay Harbor Memorial Library will be hosting the third session of the Maine Farming Series: From Plot to Plate with guest photographer and author, Peter Felsenthal, on Wednesday, July 8, 5:30 – 6:30 p.m.
“New Growth” has been awarded first place for the best Gift Book of the Year by the Independent Book Publishers Association and has been nominated a finalist in the Coffee Table Book/Photography category and finalist in the regional non-fiction category by the Next Generation Book Awards organization.
Starting with a Kodak Brownie box camera as a youth, Felsenthal has been taking pictures and processing them for many years. Originally trained in dark room developing, he has necessarily updated his skills to encompass computer processing and digital fine art printing. He has variously worked as a physicist, engineer and business person. Retirement has offered the opportunity for development of other skills.
A resident of Barters Island for the last 19 years, he enjoys the winters and quiet pace of life here on the peninsula. His interest in organic farming is life long, having started out as a child working on the family victory garden and raising chickens. As a young father, he and his wife continued to raise and preserve a great deal of the family food. Peter and his wife, Jennifer Litchfield, share their interest and passion in photography and art.
