No cause yet on Christmas Day power outage

Central Maine Power has not determined the cause for a Christmas Day power outage. Around 2:30 p.m., 2,200 Boothbay region customers lost power for about 90 minutes.
“We are continuing the investigation as it hasn’t already been readily confirmed,” said CMP spokesman Catharine Hartnett. “Occasionally, blue sky outages are caused by squirrels or other animals on the lines, by equipment failure, and dead branches that may fall without apparent cause like wind or rain.”
