Trustees of the Boothbay Harbor Sewer District welcomed Julie Hoskeer as the new full-time office manager at their meeting Wednesday evening. The district will also have new office hours, which will be from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Hoskeer will replace retiring office manager Sharon Grant, whose last day with the district will be July 3. As office manager, Hoskeer will report directly to Superintendent Chris Higgins and be responsible for processing accounting documents including invoices, departmental billings, employee reimbursements, cash receipts and vendor statements.

A significant part of her responsibilities will involve interacting with the public. She will track unpaid customer invoices and collect funds through the lien/foreclosure process.

Hoskeer began her employment with the sewer district on Monday, June 15. She comes to the position after three years with Maine-OK Enterprises, Inc., publisher of the Boothbay Register and the Wiscasset Newspaper. 

While there, she served as assistant office manager and had a variety of responsibilities. Among these were processing invoices, depositing payments, proofreading ads and legal notices and running reports. 

Prior to coming to Boothbay Harbor, Hoskeer was a resident of Massachusetts where she held positions in administration and accounting for a number of companies. She is a graduate of Marian Court College in Swampscott, Massachusetts, where she received an associate degree and majored in bookkeeping and accounting.           

She has previously been an active volunteer in Massachusetts for both the Peabody Animal Life Savers and the Merrimack River Feline Rescue Society, where she served as an adoption counselor.

Higgins welcomed Hoskeer with enthusiasm.

“The district is pleased to have Julie on staff,” he said. “Julie brings a wealth of experience and technical expertise to the district. I am excited at the opportunity to work with Julie on many projects. We are extremely fortunate to have her.”
