Lull in rain, ice; more on the way
Nearly all of Lincoln County still had power the morning of December 22 as the region remained under an ice storm warning.
Just before 8 a.m., Dresden led the way in the county’s outages, with 71 Central Maine Power customers out, according to CMP’s website; the only other Lincoln County towns with outages were Jefferson, with two customers out, and Somerville with three out.
The website listed Woolwich, in neighboring Sagadahoc County, as having 14 customers without power.
The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office reported no early morning accidents.
Meteorologist Margaret Curtis of the National Weather Service’s Gray office expected a lull in the action until about midday December 22, when rain and icing, depending on slight temperature shifts from one location to another, and one time to another, will pick back up.
“The difference between an ice storm and a crummy rainy day is about two degrees,” Curtis said.
The ice storm warning is set to lift at noon on Monday, Dec. 23.
