Lady Seahawks defeat Telstar

The Lady Seahawks varsity picked up a win on Saturday at Telstar, 45-30, after losing to a tough Spruce Mountain team at home, 59-31, on Wednesday, Dec. 18. The team goes into the Christmas break at 3-3.
At Telstar, Morgan Crocker led Boothbay with 19 points, followed by Sara Durgan with 10 and Hannah Morley with eight. Morley also had nine rebounds and five assists.
Telstar was led by Casey Blaszezak with 10.
“We got off to a slow start and didn't execute particularly well on the offensive end,” said Lady Seahawk Coach Tanner Grover. “Over the break, our focus will be on the offensive end. For us to beat the best teams, we will need to be efficient and play unselfish basketball.”
The Spruce Mountain Phoenix used its 3-2 half-court trapping defense to near precision against the Lady Seahawks, forcing several turnovers and turning them into easy baskets, in the team's fifth win.
Emily Keene (15 points) led the nine Spruce Mountain players who scored, while Vanese Barnes added 10.
Crocker led Boothbay with 17 points.
