BRHS named Gilder Lehrman affiliate school
Boothbay Region High School is proud to announce that it has been named as an affiliate school to the Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History.
The Affiliate School Program is a unique gateway to education resources, events, and tools designed to bring American history to life in the classroom. The network of schools connects teachers and students to valuable resources, including:
Exclusive Web content, including teachable documents, resource lists and more
Professional development opportunities, including preferential consideration to Teacher Seminars
Free and discounted books, multimedia kits, and traveling exhibitions in the History Shop.
Unlimited access to the Gilder Lehrman Collection of more than 60,000 American historical documents
Opportunities for students to participate in the Civil War Essay Contest and the Dear George Washington Contest.
Funded in part by the National Endowment for the Humanities, the Gilder Lehrman Affiliate School Program provides free resources and support for teaching and studying American history and literature, according to www.gilderlehrman.org.
Founded in 1994 by Richard Gilder and Lewis E. Lehrman, the Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History is a nonprofit devoted to the improvement of history education. The institute has developed an array of programs for schools, teachers, and students that now operate in all fifty states, including a website that features the more than 60,000 unique historical documents in the Gilder Lehrman Collection, according to www.gilderlehrman.org.
Each year the institute offers support and resources to tens of thousands of teachers, and through them enhances the education of more than a million students. The institute’s programs have been recognized by awards from the White House, the National Endowment for the Humanities, and the Organization of American Historians, according to www.gilderlehrman.org.
