Boys track & field hosts conference meet in Wiscasset
The Boothbay/Wiscasset boys track & field team finished third May 20 in a six-team Mountain Valley Conference mee in Wiscasset. The SeaWolves scored 70 points. Winthrop won with 137 and second place Lisbon scored 132. Ben Gapski won the 110M hurdles and Ross Gaffney won the 1,600M race walk.
In the 100M dash, Boothbay/Wiscasset's Isaac Fanslau finished third with a 12.41 second mark. Lisbon's Jacob Robinson won with 11.83. In the 400M dash, Ethan Clark finished fifth with a one-minute, 0.93 second time. Winthrop's Graham Huri won with 56.27.
In the 1,600M, A.J. Crocker finished second with a four-minute, 57.36 mark. Carrabec's Desmond Robinson won with 4:43.89. In the 3,200M run, Boothbay/Wiscasset had three runners finish in the top five. Clark finished third with an 11-minute, 53.54 second time. Louie Caidoc finished fourth with 11.55.92 and Ross Gaffney finished fifth with 12:20.47. Winthrop's Alfie Cognata won with 10:24.77.
In the 110M hurdles, Ben Gapski won running a 18.07 second time. In the 4x100M relay, the Boothbay/Wiscasset team of Aron Geddes, Daegen Marshall, Garrett Marshall and Fanslau finished third with a 49.55 second mark. Winthrop won with 47.27. In the 4x400M race, the Boothbay/Wiscasset team of Crocker, Geddes, Thomas Hennessy and Daegen Marshall finished fourth with a four-minute, 19.67 second time. Winthrop won with 3:49.84.
In the high jump, Gapski finished third with a five-foot, four-inch mark. Lisbon's Maleek Beaumier won with 5-08. In the long jump, Gapksi captured second place with an 18-foot, five-inch mark. Lisbon's Jacob Robinson won with 18-11. In the triple jump, Gapski finished second with a 38-foot, two-inch mark. Winthrop's Colton Baird won 38-08.
In the 1,600M race walk, Boothbay/Wiscasset captured the top two spots. Ross Gaffney won with a seven-minute, 53.27 second time. Jackson Zehm finished second with 7:53.17.
The team's next meet is Friday, May 23 at the Capital City Classic at Cony High School In Augusta.
