Boothbay takes three firsts in first meet




The Boothbay Region High School swim team hosted its first meet on December 6 against the St. Dominic Saints and the Lincoln Academy Eagles. Seahawks took first place in three events, second place in five events, third place in six events and fourth and sixth place in one event each.
In the girls’ 200-yard medley relay, St. Doms came in first at 2:21, Boothbay came in second at 2:23 and Lincoln Academy came in third at 2:23:28. Swimming for Boothbay were Brenna Alley, Samantha Carter, Nicole LaBrecque and Jaime Wheeler.
In the girls’ 200-yard freestyle, Molly Thibault took third for Boothbay with a time of 2:50:87. St. Doms took first and fourth place with times of 2:14:50 and 2:59:19. Lincoln Academy took second and fourth with times of 2:47:80 and 2:57:22.
In the boys’ 200-yard freestyle, Austin Crocker came in third with a time of 2:38:31. Lincoln Academy came in first and second with times of 2:10:58 and 2:15:13. St. Doms came in fourth and fifth with times of 2:54:22 and 3:15:66.
In the boys’ 50-yard freestyles first heat, Austin Crocker came in a close second, only .17 seconds behind Camden Gulden of Lincoln Academy. St. Doms took third and fifth place, and fourth went to Lincoln Academy.
In the girls’ 100-yard freestyle (first heat), Molly Thibault, of Boothbay, came in third with a time of 1:18:01 and Jaime Wheeler came in sixth with a time of 1:22:15. Lincoln Academy took first and second with times of 1:02:04 and 1:08:12, and St. Doms came in fourth and fifth with times of 1:18:18 and 1:20:09.
In the girls’ 100-yard freestyle (second heat), Chelsea Graves came in fourth with a time of 1:32:83. Lincoln Academy placed first, second, third and fifth.
In the boys’ 100-yard freestyle, Chris Groneng came in second with a time of 1:09:06. Lincoln Academy took first and sixth place, with times of 59:58 and 1:39:91. St. Doms came in third, fourth and fifth place with times of 1:09:06, 1:09:33, and 1:24:63.
In the girls’ 200-yard freestyle relay, Boothbay came in third with a time of 2:09:71. Swimming for Boothbay were Brenna Alley (32.02), Samantha Carter (33.86), Molly Thibault (37.41) and Nicole LaBrecque (25.52). Coming in first was Lincoln Academy with a time of 2:01:69 and fourth with a time of 2:22:93, while St. Doms took second place with 2:09:02.
In the boys’ 200-yard freestyle relay, Boothbay took home their first win with a time of 1:51:49. Swimming for Boothbay were Austin Crocker, Chris Groneng, Karl Alamo and Brad Tibbetts. Lincoln came in second with a time of 1:56:46 and St. Doms came in third with 2:06:41.
In the girls’ 100-yard backstroke, Brenna Alley came in second for Boothbay with a time of 1:25:90. St. Doms came in first with a time of 1:11:60, while Lincoln got third and fourth with times of 1:33:31 and 1:50:70.
In the boys 100-yard backstroke Karl Alamo of Boothbay came in second with a time of 1:18:99. St. Doms took first with a time of 1:12:24, while Lincoln came in third with a time of 1:41:68.
The girls' 100-yard breaststroke gave Boothbay a first and third, with Nicole LaBrecque coming in first (1:29:22) and Samantha Carter coming in third (1:32:69). Second and fifth place went to Lincoln Academy (1:32:38 and 1:45:83), and St. Doms took fourth with a time of 1:37:31.
The boys’ 100 yard breaststroke brought Boothbay a third from Chris Groneng with a time of 1:35:56. Lincoln Academy came in fourth with a time of 1:40:64, while St. Doms took first, second, and fifth (1:20:84, 1:23:85, and 1:42:87).
In the boys’ and girls’ 400-yard freestyle relays, Boothbay boys took home another win with a combined time of 4:27:86. Brad Tibbetts, Chris Groneng, Karl Alamo and Austin Crocker swam for Boothbay. Coming in second were the Lincoln Academy boys with a time of 4:57:94, and the girls came in third with a time of 5:40:36.
