Boothbay moves on to face Waynflete
The Boothbay Region Seahawk boys tennis team moved on to the semifinal round of the Western Maine Class C tournament with a 3-2 win in matches over the visiting Winthrop Ramblers on Thursday at BRHS.
Boothbay (12-1) will now face Waynflete (12-1) in Portland on Saturday, June 6 at 1 p.m. Waynflete defeated Madison, 5-0, in its quarterfinal match.
The Seahawks, who dropped to third place behind second-place Wayflete in the Heal point standings in the final week of the regular season, got another outstanding performance from number one singles player Nick Gorey, who remains undefeated in league play this season at 14-0. And Boothbay's two doubles teams made quick work of their Rambler opponents, allowing them to win a total of only four games in the two set matches.
