Boothbay Harbor Planning Board approves three projects
The Boothbay Harbor Planning Board approved three projects at their Oct. 30 meeting, two of which were returning applicants.
The board made a conditional site plan approval for work at Conley’s Garden Center around changes including a driveway, expansion of impervious surfaces, a gazebo, and mulch storage. After their Oct. 9 meeting with the board, applicants presented a requested survey showing wetlands delineation. The board approved the site plan with the condition that mulch storage be suitably moved away from wetlands according to Code Enforcement Officer Geoff Smith.
In addition, the board approved modification of a drainage plan for the affordable housing development on Alexander Way, which was approved April 17. Smith said applicants from the Boothbay Region Housing Trust requested a catch basin by an abutter's property be removed from the plans. According to Smith, the abutter did not want the work near his land, and the applicants believe they have mitigated the stormwater as much as possible upland. Another abutter came to the meeting to raise concerns about the development and, according to Smith, may bring them to the Department of Environmental Protection.
In addition, the board approved a shoreland permit for 5 Wharf Street for a new use of the property. Smith said the applicants are putting in a real estate agency office at the site.
