Booster Club honors Sarah Plummer
The Boothbay Region Booster Club recognized the years of service to area schools and children by school bus driver Sarah Plummer by presenting plaques in her memory to Edgecomb Eddy School, Boothbay Region Elementary School and Boothbay Region High School representatives on Monday, Feb. 3 at BRHS. Plummer, who died suddenly on January 19 at the age of 47, drove an Edgecomb school bus for 18 years.
Booster Club President Heather O'Brien and board members made the presentation honoring Plummer following the Senior Night sports presentations. Members of Plummer's immediate family were in the audience to hear the presentation.
“The Booster Club would like to take this moment to honor the outstanding service that Sarah Plummer provided our school systems over the last 18 years,” O'Brien said. “Sarah opened the door to her bus to hundreds of children over the years, greeting everyone with a hello and a huge Sarah smile. She took her profession very seriously, as her focus everyday was the safety of our children. In 2006, her excellent service was recognized when she received a School Bus Driver Excellence Award from the state of Maine.
Concluding the brief talk, O'Brien said, “Tonight, the Booster Club would like to present these plaques ... honoring the memory of Sarah Plummer. We know that you will display them proudly in your schools as a happy reminder of one of your family members.”
Accepting the plaques were Lisa Clarke, principal of Edgecomb Eddy School; Mark Tess, principal of Boothbay Region Elementary School; and Dan Welch, principal of Boothbay Region High School. Also attending the presentation was Superintendent of Schools Eileen King.
