Well, here I am.  I’m a newbie with regard to writing a blog.  The truth be told I have no clue what I am doing.  Thank you to Lisa Kristoff and the BB Register for doing the hard work and setting it up.

So, what should I talk about?  How about the obsession of college-for-everyone, I just don’t like it.  I mean do we not already have enough underemployed liberal arts majors working at Starbucks?

I do however believe strongly in education-for-everyone. For those that want that experience great, have at it.

But really, for those people that do not want to come away owing thousands of dollars in debt what about something less time consuming.  What about the training and hands on experience that can be gained through the military?  Or perhaps a two-year program leading to a health care career.  With the graying of America certainly those jobs will become increasingly important.

And don’t even get me started about a career in the trades industry.  If you’ve written a check to an electrician or a plumber lately you know what I’m talking about.

My point is that everyone needs the education that is right for them.  For some that may be a law degree from Harvard, for others it may be an apprenticeship at B.I.W.
