Wiscasset Police Department reported on its Facebook page Friday, that, just before 7 a.m. two Wiscasset residents were arrested and charged with armed robbery related to the Nov. 27 robbery of Maxwell’s Market in Wiscasset.

The post continued: “Following an intense joint investigation with Wiscasset Police Department, Lincoln County Sherriff’s Office, Maine State Police and the State Police Crime lab, Shane Lemont, 41, and Kristin Crowley, 35, were taken into custody at their Wiscasset home without incident by Wiscasset Police Department and Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office. The pair were transported to Two Bridges Regional Jail in Wiscasset.

“On Nov. 27 at approximately 9:33 a.m., a male subject entered Maxwell’s Market and brandished a firearm demanding cash. Images from Maxwell’s video surveillance system captured the incident along with neighboring businesses’ surveillance systems. The video showed the male suspect running north on Gardiner Road to a waiting vehicle.

“Officers from Wiscasset Police Department, Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office and Maine State Police all converged on the area in an attempt to locate the suspect(s). On Dec. 2, Wiscasset Police Department, Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office and the Maine State Police tactical team executed a search warrant at a Wiscasset residence based on evidence collected on the day of the incident. More evidence was collected but no arrests were made. DNA evidence was collected and sent to the State Police Crime Lab for analysis. The Crime Lab processed the DNA through the Combined DNA Index System (CODIS) where a confirmed match allegedly linked the DNA evidence to Lemont, who already had DNA in the CODIS system.

“Lemont has an extensive criminal history to include Robbery and Burglary. Both subjects are scheduled to appear in Wiscasset Unified Court on Jan. 28. Bail has been set on Lemont for $10,000 with a single surety and Crowley’s bail was set at $1,000 cash.

“Friday marked two weeks from the day of the robbery. The quick closure of this investigation is an excellent example of multiple agencies and the community working together.

“Sgt. Perry Hatch of Wiscasset Police Department and Det. Terry Michaud of Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office are the lead investigators and ask that you contact them at 882-8202 if you have any information on this incident.”
