In an early season battle of unbeaten teams in Class C South, the Winthrop Ramblers defeated the Boothbay Region Seahawks 53-43 at Boothbay Region High School Monday night, Dec. 16.

The Ramblers, now 3-0, took a 32-24 lead into halftime but the Seahawks closed the gap at the end of three quarters, 38-35. However, in the final quarter, Winthrop outscored Boothbay 15-8.

Leading Winthrop in scoring were Ryan Baird with 18 and Cam Hachey with 11.

Sullivan Rice led Boothbay (3-1) with 11 points, followed by Hunter Crocker with 10.

The Seahawks are next scheduled to play at Monmouth on Wednesday, Dec. 18 and will host Mt. Abram on Friday, Dec. 20.
