What’s up at the Food Pantry?

Wed, 05/26/2021 - 11:15am

The free distributions of food held by the Boothbay Region Food Pantry on two Saturdays during the past month were successful, allowing us to offer more food to the community. Why did the food pantry offer these free distributions?  An important reason was to reach out to everyone!

A secondary reason was the necessity to draw down our supply of food, which was beginning to outstrip our storage capacity.  During the Covid era, the pantry has been grateful to receive an exceptionally large number of food item donations from individuals, churches, and other organizations and agencies. Pantry directors realized that the pantry could expand its offerings to clients and to others in the community and at the same time open up space in our overcrowded shelves and freezers.

Watch for future articles in the Register for further updates on food distribution as circumstances warrant.
