Tue, 10/12/2021 - 7:45am

“Haunted” tours of the historic courthouse and graveyard will offer fun and fright to kids and adults alike on Oct. 29 and 30.

Lincoln County Historical Association will present special Halloween tours at the Pownalborough Court House this year. From 4 to 7 p.m. on Oct. 29 and 30, participants will experience tours of the court house and cemetery with hauntings provided by actors portraying the ghosts of Pownalborough’s past. Hot chocolate and cider will be available, along with an inviting outdoor fire to allow guests to warm up and enjoy the property after their “chilling” tour.

Tickets, free for children under 16 and $10 per adult, are available in advance through the organization’s website: www.lincolncountyhistory.org. Tours will be scheduled to begin every 15 minutes and be limited to four individuals or a family group of up to six people. Per CDC recommendations, masks are required in the courthouse. The Pownalborough Court House is located at 23 Court House Road off Route 128, in Dresden.

Lincoln County Historical Association is a non-profit organization that provides stewardship for the 1754 Chapman-Hall House in Damariscotta, the 1761 Pownalborough Court House in Dresden, and the 1811 Old Jail and Museum in Wiscasset.
