Superstar bands are on the bill in May at the Chocolate Church Arts Center at 804 Washington St. Bath Maine. 

May starts off big on Friday, May 3 at 7:30 p.m., with one of the most celebrated Celtic bands in the world, the all female Gaelic supergroup "Cherish the Ladies" who will bring their incredible show of Celtic music and step-dancing. This is an amazing opportunity for the whole family to experience a truly star-studded event.  This is the only New England appearance of their "Heart of the Home" world tour. “It is simply impossible to imagine an audience that wouldn’t enjoy what they do,” says the Boston Globe speaking of “Cherish the Ladies.” Under the leadership of All-Ireland flute and whistle champion Joanie Madden, named by The Irish Voice Newspaper as one of the Top 25 most influential Irish Americans of the past quarter century, these ladies create an evening that includes a spectacular blend of virtuoso instrumental talents, beautiful vocals, captivating arrangements, and stunning step dancing.  Tickets for Cherish the Ladies are $35 advance, $40 door $15 student. 

On Thursday, May 16 at 7:30 p.m. the super-powered harmonies of the indie alternative folk sensation Darlingside will take the stage. Darlingside is a Bostonbased indie folk phenomenon featuring four distinct writer's voices who collaboratively construct lyrically erudite originals with what some call a 'retro' aesthetic, oft compared to Simon & Garfunkel or Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young. NPR music dubs the result 'exquisitely-arranged, literary-minded, baroque folk-pop'. Darlingside catapulted to fame in the wake of their 2016 performance at the Cambridge Folk Festival. Tickets to Darlingside are $35 advance, $15 students; $30,. $40 at the door.

On Saturday, May 18  at 7:30 p.m., Schooner Fare returns to the Chocolate Church.  Steve and Chuck Romanoff who are regarded as the premier performing group of original and traditional maritime songs. Their energetic concerts are laced with a Maine brand of universal humor. The band also writes and performs topical songs, country ballads and maritime masterpieces that have made their name synonymous with the 'Down East' style. Combining their talents on six-string guitars, twelve-string guitars and banjos, Schooner Fare's distinctive vocal and instrumental arrangements have been hailed by such folk music icons as the Kingston Trio, the Limeliters, the Chad Mitchell Trio, the Clancy Brothers, Tommy Makem and Tom Paxton. This event is sponsored by Byrne’s Irish Pubs. Tickets are $22 advance, $25 door.

On Sunday, May 19  7:30 p.m. superstar singer-songwriters, Mary Gauthier, Eliza Gilkyson and Gretchen Peters coming together as 3 Women and the Truth.  Three women, three guitars and the words, music, and hard-won wisdom from three lifetimes spent in pursuit of the song. These award winning female songwriter’s songs cut through the murky layers of life's complexities and bring clarity to many of the challenges we all long to make sense of. Writing from their life’s experience, these songwriters are skilled in balancing personal tales with classic underpinnings, which hint at the evocative idea that all our lives are full of events and incidents that touch on the mythic and the timeless. Tickets are $32 advance and $35 door.
