Minors under age 16 are allowed only one active work permit during the school year.

During the summer months, the minor can have up to two active permits at one time.

Starting Tuesday, Sept. 3, those students who have two permits will have to stop working at one of the jobs and mail the inactive permit to the Bureau of Labor Standards, Department of Labor, 45 State House Station, Augusta, ME 04333.
