Squeegee, club allegedly part of Wiscasset road rage incident July 8

On July 8, Wiscasset Police Department responded to a physical altercation between two men at the Clipper Mart in Wiscasset. The men were identified as James Puterbaugh, 39, of Wiscasset and Sean Williams, 42, of Waldoboro.

The investigation Officer Jonathan Barnes conducted found the incident stemmed from a road rage incident where the two men were allegedly tailgating and passing each other prior to entering Wiscasset on Route 1 in Edgecomb. Both men pulled into the Clipper Mart, where Williams allegedly retrieved a wooden billy club from his vehicle and Puterbaugh allegedly grabbed a squeegee from the fuel pumps and used it to assault Williams.

Williams dropped the wooden billy club, and Puterbaugh allegedly retrieved it and continued to assault Williams with it and also began hitting Williams’ vehicle with it.

Puterbaugh was arrested and charged with aggravated assault and criminal mischief. He was transported to Two Bridges Regional Jail in Wiscasset and is set to appear Aug. 27 in Wiscasset Unified Court.

This is the second road rage incident this summer ending at Wiscasset Clipper Mart.
