Smith for the Edgecomb Selectboard
Dear Editor:
Times like these challenge one’s mettle and compel voters to decide what they truly value. My wife and I are ineligible to vote in Edgecomb’s town elections. Though we live in the town nearly half the year and pay hefty 5-figure town taxes, we still have a voice. And we cast our voices for Stuart Smith for the Edgecomb Selectboard.
A former member of the selectboard, Stuart’s business acumen and his common-sense approach to town governance are well-documented. Stuart understands the serious financial challenges now facing Edgecomb (and other mid-coast towns). And his work this past year in support of the Edgecomb Citizens’ Tax Group (https://edgecomb.me) demonstrates that he will work hard to establish a transparent budget process and ensure that Edgecomb’s budgets are sustainable by a town of 1,200 (and a few hundred seasonals).
Turning things around in Edgecomb in coming years will require all hands on deck and it’s time to face hard facts and start to plan Edgecomb’s future. We ask eligible voters in Edgecomb to vote for Stuart Smith on May 17. Democracy is not a spectator sport!
