Conductor Linda Blanchard and pianist Sean Fleming, married musical duo, have been collaborating in creating choral music in Midcoast of Maine for 25 years, leading Sheepscot Valley Chorus, St. Cecilia Chamber Choir, and St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church Choirs. If you love to sing, one or more of these groups is sure to be a good fit!
Sheepscot Valley Chorus is a non-auditioned chorus based in Wiscasset. We rehearse Tuesday evenings, 7 to 9, at the Congregational Church, Route 1, Wiscasset. This year’s winter concert on Sunday, Dec. 8 , will feature the joyful Mendelssohn “Magnificat in D” and other fun numbers appropriate to the season. Sheepscot Chorus’ new season kicks off with a potluck supper at 6 p.m. before the 7 p.m. rehearsal on Tuesday, Sept. 10. Come join us, and bring a friend! Potluck offering optional — we’ll have plenty! For more information, email Linda Blanchard at email@example.com or call 207-380-2768.
St. Cecilia Chamber Choir is an auditioned community chorus rehearsing Wednesday evenings, 7 to 9, at St. Andrew’s Church in Newcastle. Our signature winter concert, “Ceremony of Lessons and Carols,” will be on Sat., Dec. 14. Sopranos and altos should be able to sing with a straight tone, and all singers should have a finely tuned ear and be eager for a challenge. Practice materials are provided for learning music at home. To schedule an audition, contact Linda Blanchard at firstname.lastname@example.org or call 207-380-2768.
Opportunities for singers of all ages can be found in the three choirs at St. Andrew’s Church in Newcastle. The Junior and Youth choirs rehearse Wednesday afternoons, and the Senior choir rehearses Thursday nights at 7. The choirs provide music for the 10 a.m. Sunday services (the children once a month). We welcome new members! For information about joining, email Linda Blanchard at email@example.com or call 207-380-2768.
