Seahawks track and field teams traveled to Massabesic High School in Waterboro on Saturday, June 2 to compete in the 2018 Class C Track and Field Championship, the last event of the season. The boys team placed 19th out of 33 teams and the girls team placed 21st out of 30 teams.

Jay Hasch took second in the high jump, tying his school record of 6-4. Coach Nick Scott said the Hall-Dale High School student who placed first also jumped 6-4 and only won because Hasch had two misses earlier in the day.

“The only other person to jump higher than Jay yesterday was an individual from Class A, who was able to clear 6-5.25,” said Scott.

Will Perkins, Graham Harris, Blake Erhard and Kyle Ames formed the 800m relay and 400m relay teams taking sixth and 11th respectively out of 20 relay teams. Hasch placed fifth and Quinn Ranta placed 18th in the triple jump. Perkins placed 17th in the high jump, Sam Burnham placed 26th in javelin, and Connor Demmons placed ninth in the discus and 12th in the shot put events.

Reagan Cola placed third in the 400m dash while beating her personal record and moving up to third on the All Seahawk Top Ten list with a 62.81 second run.

“Reagan's gutsy finish put her ahead of the fourth and fifth place runners by 1/100th of a second, proving it isn't over until you cross the line,” said Scott. “Way to tough it out, Reagan!”

Though she did not score in either event, Olivia Paolillo tied her personal record for the 100m hurdles and was .02 seconds away from tying her personal record in the 300m hurdles.

The Seahawks Track and Field Awards Night is Wednesday, June 13.
